Museum Exhibit: “Protecting Manassas” — hero stories

By: CCN —

CCN members beat the summer heat with a visit to the Manassas Museum. We could feel the presence of heroes during our visit.  Uniforms, helmets, axes and equipment from the emergency service members who made history were displayed in their honor.

Michelle Bondesen, Historic Interpreter, Manassas Museum Programing Staff member, explained the activities currently available and future plans.  “Protecting Manassas” exhibits until July 15.  It is the storied history of Manassas’ emergency services’ departments and the role they have played in protecting our community.

The Manassas Civil War Weekend is scheduled for August 21-23. Civil War music and a mock rail car burning at dusk will be featured to commemorate Stonewall Jackson’s Raid on the Junction.  Period fashions, a parade, dances and demonstrations will provide fun for all.  Liberia Plantation will feature house tours.

Plan a visit to Historic Manassas for a unique experience rich in history.
