Manassas has hints of the Civil War era in the city.  Manassas played an important role in the nation’s history. It is not unusual to see an event such as the Civil War Weekend or just people in period clothing strolling through the city. Cannon firing, camps, fires, cooking, drills, rail car burning and music are seen and heard to remember important dates from that time period.

There have been many re-enactors who have participated in events. Al Stone, has played the role of General Robert E. Lee for 20 years. These dedicated participants stay in character and have a story to tell and always enjoy posing for the camera.
