Many attended the city council meeting on January 11th, 2016. Dan Radtke and Theresa Coates Ellis, members of the Bull Run Rotary Club, were there to support Interact Club. Interact Club was invited to attend the meeting to receive a certification for winning 1st place in the Greater Manassas Christmas Parade under the sponsor/ commercial category!

The meeting started with the Honor Guard presenting and then everyone stood up to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. A couple of announcements were made by the City Attorney, City Manager, and the Mayor. Mayor Hal Parrish had a big smile as he swore new officers, Chris Jones, Luis Armstrong, Joshua Aussems, and Joshua Jordan into the Manassas City Police Department. He also recognized Terri Hines, Sergeant C. Mello, and Kenyetta Grigsby for their achievements in the city. Afterwards the mayor announced a short recess, and said “Manassas is community,” and he released everyone to enjoy the refreshments and snacks in the lobby.

It was then time to recognize the participants in the Greater Manassas Christmas Parade. One by one the winners walked up to the front of the chamber and received their certification and a check from Mayor Hal Parrish. Interact Club was proud to represent Osbourn High School as they walked to the front. They were surprised when they received a check for $50.00 for their hard work for the parade.
